I'm Hooked!

After two lessons with Andrea, some inspiration from Amanda, another pattern from Patrice, a few You Tube Videos and a bit of blog surfing, this is what I've managed to do so far! Yes, I'm hooked but don't worry, I'm still addicted to paper craft. Some of these little flowers may appear on some cards in the not too distant future.

Various Mixes of Wool, Cotton, Cashmere and Bamboo

My Earlier Attempts

If you're into crochet and want to pass on any of your favourite patterns/blog sites to a novice like myself, please feel free!! ;) Any input would be greatly appreciated!!

I'm attempting a water bottle carrier at the moment ... the first attempt looked like a beanie so I started again and it's now looking more like what it's meant to be!

Update: 6th December 2010
I have just 'moved' all non-related Stampin' Up! crafty bits 'n' pieces to my new (other) blog. You can find it at - http://bronsewhooked.blogspot.com

Just Add Ink - Sketch Challenge #45

There's a Sketch Challenge on this week at Just Add Ink. Why don't you head on over and check out the awesome samples from the other DT Members and get inspired to play along.

Hand Knit Tag Holder

Sketch Challenge #45

Hand Knit Tags

My Hand Knitted Cupcake Pin Cushion

The pattern for this cute little project is from an Express Publication called, Knitting and Crochet (No. 1). Knitting was my first 'craft love'. My paternal grandmother taught me how to knit at the age of 4 and then my mum guided me through the knitting obsession for many more years. I still like to sit and knit the odd project or two and have just recently learnt to crochet. More on that topic in another post as this one is meant to be about Paper Craft!!!!

Another Inside Shot

This Tag Holder was made for my wonderful mum who celebrated her birthday this week. XX

The Tutorial for this Project can be found at the latest UStamp with Dawn and Friends!! Get a Jump on Your Jingle 2010. There's a button on my side bar if you wish to join up in order to access a wealth of wonderful tutorials from various SU Demonstrators around the globe.

I adapted the Christmas Tag Holder and Tags, designed by the talented Twila Davis, to suit the cute little Hand Knit Stamp Set.

Here's the Project Recipe for Hand Knit Tag Holder and Tags -
Stamp Sets: Hand Knit, Art by Design
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Basic Brown, Pink Pirouette, So Saffron, Rich Razzleberry
Card Stock: Chocolate Chip, Pink Pirouette, Rich Razzleberry, Whisper White

Non-SU: Wool Scraps, Velcro Sticky Dot,

Christmas Workshop

Last night I took a workshop for a lovely bunch of enthusiastic ladies. The Hostess wanted a Christmas theme so I took the opportunity to promote the Welcome Christmas Bundle that is on offer in SU's latest Dressing Up Christmas Promotion. Here's some samples from the evening.

The Hostess Gift - a Box in a Bag
full of Yummy Christmas Chocolates

It's been a couple of years since I've made one of these gift bags. They're so easy to make. You can find the tutorial in the Resources Section on Splitcoast Stampers.

I used the Christmas Cocoa Specialty DSP that I was able to purchase in the Welcome Christmas Bundle and also received the featured ribbon for FREE. I love this DSP as there are two single sided flocked designs as well as the double sided patterns.

The poinsettia is made from the 5-Petal Flower Punch and was a great idea I picked up from Kathy Tanner at Stamping Still. Thanks for the inspiration, Kathy. It was a quick little demo I did to start off the evening.

Project Recipe for Box in a Bag -
Stamp Set: Perfect Punches
Ink: Real Red
Card Stock: Real Red, Old Olive, Whisper White
Accessories: Scallop Circle, Round Tab, 5-Petal and Scallop Trim Border Punches, Crop-a-dile, Gold Brads, Christmas Cocoa Specialty DSP, Mistletoe Ribbon Originals

Dasher - Stamping with Shimmer Paint

The second quick demo was stamping with Shimmer Paint. This was a great little technique that was demonstrated at the Launceston Regionals. I mixed a bit of Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint and a drop of Soft Suede Ink Refill and applied it to the Dasher stamp using a sponge dauber.

For some more great ideas on how to use Shimmer Paint you can join up to access a couple of tutorials by Nicole Derendorf on the We Stamp for Lara Site, as well as many more by other talented SU Demonstrators (Button on my side bar).

The general layout was a CASE taken from Kate Tobeck's 'Just Add Christmas' card for last week's challenge at Just Add Ink. I loved the simplicity of the design! Thanks for the inspiration, Kate.

Project Recipe for Dasher -
Stamp Sets: Dasher, Snow Swirled
Ink: Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint, Soft Suede Ink Refill, Cherry Cobbler
Card Stock: Very Vanilla, Early Expresso, Cherry Cobbler
Accessories: Sponge Dauber, Basic Rhinestones, Antique Brad, Early Expresso Striped Grosgrain Ribbon, Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder, Big Shot

The Make 'n' Take - Welcome Christmas

For the Make 'n' Take I wanted to demonstrate something that was easy but I also wanted to introduce the guests to a few techniques and allow them time to 'play' with some 'tools'. It proved to be a worthwhile exercise.

Project Recipe for the Make 'n' Take -
Stamp Set: Welcome Christmas
Ink: Soft Suede, Real Red
Card Stock: Confetti Cream, Real Red
Accessories: Paper Piercing Tool, Mat and Template, Distressing Tool from Cutter Kit, Stamping Sponge, Christmas Cocoa Specialty DSP, Scallop Trim Border Punch, Real Red 3/4" Polka Dot Grosgrain Ribbon

I was in such a rush to get ready for last night and all the batteries for my camera needed recharging, so my DD offered to take the photos of all the samples with her 'birthday' camera. Thanks, Laura! You're a gem.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Just Add Christmas

Welcome Christmas Snow Globe

This week's challenge at Just Add Ink is to JUST ADD CHRISTMAS. When I spotted these Snow Globes while I was out shopping with my mum (in Spotlight), I completely changed my plans about my submission and went with this!

I know we don't have sleds and snow at Christmas time in Australia but a lot of our traditions come from the North and I love the traditional style Christmas decorations and cards.

Reverse Side

For this side of the Snow Globe, I scrunched up some plastic wrap and used it to apply some Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint to the background (on Whisper White Card Stock), then stamped the silhouette image from Welcome Christmas with Black Staz-On. The Holly Wreath stamp from the set was then stamped on in sections across the top using Old Olive Ink and lastly the berries were coloured in with a Cherry Cobbler Stampin' Write Marker.

It was very difficult to shake up the globe and then quickly get a decent photo for each side. Apologies for the two lights that appear from my portable photo studio as there wasn't any time for me this week to take photographs in the daylight hours!

For the other side of the Snow Globe, I stamped the image from Lovely as a Tree onto two post-it-notes and cut out the shape of the tree line. I then brayered the sky using Baja Breeze Ink and left a 'snow line' using the masking technique. I stamped both images using Black Staz-On. Lastly, I applied some 2-Way Glue and sprinkled some Dazzling Diamonds around the tree mounds.

I hope I've inspired you to make one of your own!

Thanks for taking a peek,

Inkspirations Sketch Challenge

Coffee Kiki

Inkspirations Challenges has a new home and a bigger Design Team so I just HAD to find the time to join in and have a go at their latest Sketch Challenge.

Inkspirations Sketch # 47

The 'flower' image seemed to be the real focal point and finally I had a project 'worthy' enough to place one of the gorgeous crocheted flowers that Patrice had made for me.

I have been looking at all the lovely crocheted flowers that Patrice and my other friend, Andrea, have made. It's been so hard to take them out of my little dish which sits on my stamping desk and use them, unless of course they're for a really special project!

Patrice's Crocheted Flower

Well, I'm going to be totally 'self-indulgent' and keep this little calendar for my work desk next year. I'm sure the children in my Prep/1 class will want to make one of their very own (Now ... there's the first craft activity sorted out for Term 1, 2011).

It's an Easel Card/Calendar

Speaking of FIRSTS - this is the first time I have downloaded a digi image and the first time I have used Copic Markers! (I have 'stalked' Keesh's blog to watch all her great tutorials)

The Sentiment Reads, "A Morning without Coffee is like Sleep".

Project Recipe:
Stamp Set: Morning Cup
Ink: Marina Mist
Cardstock: Marina Mist, Whisper White, Pretty in Pink
Accessories: Brights DSP, Marina Mist Satin Ribbon, Basic Pearls, Subtles Buttons, Paper Piercing Tool and Mat Pack, Linen Thread, Pearl from Pretties Kit (retired), Scallop Trim Border Punch, Modern Label Punch, Dimensionals
Non-SU: Patrice's Crocheted Flower, CC Designs Digi Image - Coffee Kiki, Copic Markers, Mini Calendar

Thanks Keesh and the DT for an Honourable Mention!! It made my day.
