CASology 161 - PLAID

Hi there and welcome to addINKtive designs.

Today I'm sharing a card that I demoed for a small group of grade 9/10 students. Every Wednesday I take a 'study' group; it consists of a handful of students that have chosen not to do Automotive or Sport's Leaders as one of their electives. I try and mix it up each week and do a variety of activities.  Their English teacher had asked if I could get them to make some Thank You Cards for guest speakers and other visitors etc. He didn't have to 'twist my arm' to get me to bring my favourite hobby into the classroom.

The brief was to keep the cards fairly clean and simple, (CAS) and I provided a limited amount of stamps, punches and ink and a large supply of washi tape (I had a bit of a thing about washi back in 2012 and have quite a collection hoard).

Here's one card that I 'demoed ' -

I had the latest CASology Challenge in mind when I chose to use this PLAID fabric washi that was in my stash.

Here's the finished collection made by some of the students -
An A+ for Molly, Elizabeth, Anna and Georgie!

Thanks for stopping by,

Yay! an honorable mention!  Thanks, Melissa and co. -

A Spec-tacular New Adventure

My niece needed a card for one of the optometrists at her work as she is moving back home to Brisbane.  This was the 'design brief' -
  • I want an extra special card for everyone to write in
  • It needs to be A5 size or a little bigger and say something along the lines of "good luck with your new adventure"
  • As hipster as possible
  • She likes mustard, grey and navy blue tones
Thanks to a great Silhouette Cutting File and some awesome SU stamps, embossing folders and DSP, I think I managed to tick all the boxes; very hipster don't you think?  You can't go wrong with chevrons!

Colour Palette - Basic Gray, Delightful Dijon and Night of Navy

To complete the project, a very large envelope was made using the Envelope Punch Board - such an awesome tool!

Awesomely Artistic

Clear Mount Stamp Set  (139950 - $35.00 AUD)

I have a couple of projects to share with you for this round.  The first card is a flower pot easel card made from the medium sized Envelope Liners Framelits -

1.  Awesomely Artistic Flower Pot Easel Card

The cluster of flowers image was stamped three times with Tip Top Taupe Ink, coloured in with Stampin' Write Markers and fussy cut.  The dragonfly was stamped with Black Stazon on vellum and Gold Glitter was added to the wings with Crystal Effects.

My colour palette is from The Colour Tree.

This card is the second in the series of Flower Pot Easel Cards made from the Envelope Liners Framelits.  I shared the first one in the Petite Petals SRC Blog Hop a couple of months ago and have now written tutorials for both, which are available to purchase from My Tutorials For Sale page.

Project Recipe:
Stamp Set:  Awesomely Artistic
Ink: Tip Top Taupe, Calypso Coral (Ink and Markers), Black Stazon
Card Stock:  Thick Whisper White
Accessories:  Envelope Liners Framelits, Vellum, Boho Chic Embossing Folder, Dimensionals, Pretty Petals DSP Stack, PL Corner Rounder Punch, Gold Glitter, Crystal Effects, Basic Pearls

2.  Window Card with Ornate Tag Topper Closure

My second card is also based on a colour combination from The Colour Tree and you can see from the photos that the 'fold' is a variation of the popular Scallop Tag Topper cards that were doing the rounds last year; except this fold uses the Ornate Tag Topper Punch and has a front 'window'.

Project Recipe:
Stamp Set:  Awesomely Artistic
Ink:  Soft Suede, Lost Lagoon, Black Marker
Card Stock:  Very Vanilla, Soft Suede
Accessories:  Ornate Tag Topper Punch, Gold Metallic Doily, Black Stitched Satin Ribbon, PL Corner Rounder Punch, Circle FramelitsDie (no. 4)
I hope you are enjoying the SRC Blog Hop so far. The next three participants are also from Australia and I'm sure they, along with the rest of the international crew, have some amazing inspirational projects to share. This is one of my favourite stamp sets and I can't wait to see what awesomeness lies ahead!

Up next is my good friend, Nikki Spencer -

Choose Happiness

Colour Palette - Cajun Craze, Always Artichoke, Perfect Plum, Bermuda Bay

This is the new card that I made to enable me to write and photograph the steps for the tutorial; it involved a bit of fussy cutting with the Choose Happiness stamp set.  However, the measurements (in inches) and construction are the same as the original design featured below.

Petite Petals

This is the original design which you can see in more detail in my post for The Stamp Review Blog Hop.

When recreating this card you could use a different embossing folder, floral stamp set and 'leaf' punch or die.  However, the measurements and instructions in the tutorial are specifically written for the Stampin' Up! Envelope Liners Framelits.

 135502 - Envelope Liners Framelits - $45 / 138286 - Boho Chic Embossing Folder - $13

134198 - Choose Happiness - $31  /  133155 - Petite Petals - $22
(Codes and prices are for clear mount stamps)

139950 - Awesomely Artistic - $35

CASEing the Everyday Section of the Catty

Welcome to addinktive designs and another Friday Night Blog Hop for CASEing the Catty!  This week we are CASEing our way through the Everyday Section of the Stampin' Up! Catalogue.  It's the largest chapter in the annual catty so it was difficult to decide on which project I was going to use for inspiration.  I finally settled on the card from page 99; changed the whole colour scheme and used a different embossing folder and stamps.

It just so happens that the card fitted nicely into a couple of my favourite challenges and seeing I haven't made a card for three whole weeks, I am 'milking it for all it's worth'! I just hope I can get some other projects done before the end of the weekend.

 CTC 42 - Everyday

SUO Challenges - For this challenge, create a project, using Stampin’ Up! products only, that features Butterflies – one or a whole bunch – but certainly make the butterfly the highlight!

Thanks so much for stopping by.

My lovely friend, Monique Fielder is next on the CTC 42 hop and she has a CASE (Copy and Share Everything) that is so...o worth CASEing too; such a gorgeous project, so be sure to check it out as well as all the other stops on this week's hop!
